Flatbush Homes for Sale
Founded in 1651 by Dutch colonists in what is now central Brooklyn, Flatbush is a diverse neighborhood situated a short walk south of Prospect Park. While primarily comprised of pre-war and post-war apartments, Flatbush also features Victorian-style houses, stemming from the early 20th century.
Since its founding, Flatbush has grown to become a widely-diverse neighborhood, as best-evidenced by the restaurants that dot the border streets Flatbush Ave and Coney Island Ave, such as La Cabaña Rodríguez, Hunger Pang, and George’s Diner.
If you’re looking for a good time outside of dining, you could check out Kings Theatre (one of New York’s iconic venues as an epicenter of the performing arts in Brooklyn) is in the heart of Flatbush. About two miles southeast lies Marine Park Golf Course, which is open to the public year-round. As mentioned before, Prospect Park (and it’s zoo) lie to the north, and just neighboring that is the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
As with other central Brooklyn neighborhoods, Flatbush is a convenient neighborhood, serving as a midway point between Manhattan, Staten Island, Queens, and the rest of Long Island. Commuters are never more than a few blocks from a station serving the B, Q, 2, or 5 lines, and those traveling by car have relatively easy access to Ocean Parkway and Linden Boulevard.
